Baroque Orchestra Academy at Confidencen Opera & Music Festival 2026
We are delighted to present the fourth edition of The Baroque Orchestra Academy at Confidencen Opera & Music Festival 2026. This course will be held in Stockholm at the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre Confidencen between 07.8 and 12.8 2026.
We call for young instrumentalists who wish to develop their skills in the Baroque style and interpretation. During an intense week the participants will be introduced to various aspects of the Baroque style and instructed by two well-renowned coaches: COMF’s artistic director and violinist Peter Spissky and harpsichord player Marcus Mohlin.
This one-week program will culminate in a staged concert at Confidencen Theatre with singers from our Young Artist’s Program (10.8) and a concert (12.8) with the singers Ann Hallenberg, Martin Vanberg and Kristina Hammarström and musicians from Confidencen Opera & Music Festival Orchestra, under the direction of Peter Spissky.
The course is free of charge, but participants are expected to arrange their own accommodation and travel. Upon request we may give advice on accommodation possibilities in the area near the Ulriksdal Palace Theatre. A list of possible scholarship applications will be shared with the accepted participants.
Who may apply?
All instrumentalists are welcome to apply. The applicants must have started their musical education at advanced/university level or already have a diploma and are ready to begin their career on a historical instrument.
String players:
For the audition recording (see below), you are welcome to apply either on a baroque instrument (pitch 415), or on your own modern instrument with modern pitch. The acceptance of participation is pending the acquisition of a 415-pitched instrument before the summer. In case you do not own any historical instrument, contact the COMF office, and we will try to facilitate the borrowing of an instrument.
Wind players:
Only applicants on historical wind instruments are admitted.
Continuo players:
The applicants for the continuo group (Harpsichord/Lute/Harp) must have basic knowledge of figured bass.
Application:
Please send your application to audition@confidencen.se no later than March 15th 2026, with an attached CV and a video recording (a link to YouTube or a similar platform) of two movements (fast and slow) from a Baroque sonata or concerto of your choice. Please, let us also know how you learnt about the academy.
