By uniting the expressive power of text with the emotional force of music, Claudio Monteverdi (1567–1643), laid the foundations of opera, giving human emotion, conflict and desire voice, body and movement on stage.

In Come Dolce, his music is brought vividly to life through the Romeo & Juliet Choir’s distinctive scenic language, where singing and movement intertwine to form living narratives. Baroque passions resonate through contemporary bodies and voices in a dialogue between past and present, where music is not only heard but embodied in sound and image.

Founded in 1991 at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm and led by artistic director Benoît Malmberg, the Romeo & Juliet Choir works in the borderland between concert and theatre. Touring internationally for more than three decades, the ensemble is known for its close, face-to-face connection with audiences.

Come Dolce is a sweeping yet intimate concert experience, where timeless music becomes vividly alive – here and now.
